UC Chicanx Latinx Alumni Association Systemwide Summit Hosted at UC Irvine

The UC Chicanx Latinx Alumni Association hosted a systemwide summit at UC Irvine to bring together distinguished alumni, faculty and university leaders to discuss the future of academic partnerships and community engagement. One of the highlights was a conversation facilitated by Vice Provost Stephanie Reyes-Tuccio with UC Irvine alumnus and Cesar Chavez's longtime press secretary and aide Marc Grossman.

Marc Grossman shared reflections about how partnership and community engagement played a pivotal role in the farmworker movement. He continues to be a spokesperson for the Cesar Chavez Foundation and United Farm Workers.

The summit also featured a dynamic panel discussion with several academic deans including Tiffany López, Dean and Claire Trevor Professor, Claire Trevor School of the Arts, Ian Williamson, Dean, Paul Merage School of Business, and Jon Gould, Dean, School of Social Ecology. The panel explored innovative strategies for fostering interdisciplinary collaborations and enhancing student success through effective partnerships. The deans shared their own experiences and best practices to serve the university community and beyond.

The Vice Provost's role in facilitating these conversations underscored the importance of leadership in creating spaces for open dialogue and collaboration. By bringing together diverse voices and perspectives, the summit exemplified UC Irvine's commitment to fostering a vibrant
and inclusive academic environment.
